Extra Curricular Activities

The English Department comprises five full time and one part time members of staff. It aims to teach students the skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing needed not only to be successful in exams but to be successful in life. It also seeks to foster creativity and inspire a life-long appreciation of literature.


As a core subject, all students study English. In Key stage 3 (years 7 & 8) all students will have three one hour lessons per week. In Year 9, students will begin to study GCSE English, currently with the WJEC Exam Board.


The English Department also puts on a range of extra-curricular activities, including: booster classes, poetry events and theatre trips.
