90% of Year 11s Achieve 5 A*- C GCSEs before taking exams

During December, Mr Arthur took his Year 10 English class, to the University of Leeds, for a day of awareness-raising activities and a campus tour. .

The students learned about the benefits of going to university, and also had the chance to speak to three current students, who guided them around. One of the most important sessions was on university funding during which students learned that, despite university fees, students do not have to pay anything until they are in their first job and earning more than £21,000.

TAs a result of the visit, 50% more students said they would 'strongly consider going to university'. All students behaved impeccably on the day and the university staff hosting us commented that St Catherine's were one of the most engaged groups they had ever had.

Mr Arthur also organised a pilot day of career and interview advice on the 25 January, and the school is looking to roll these opportunities of university trips and career advice onto other year groups in the coming months.
