St Catherine's Student to Carry Olympic Torch

Elisha Jagger, from St Catherine's Catholic High School, has been chosen to take part in the official London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay this summer. Nominated for portraying the Olympic values of friendship, excellence and respect, she will be an outstanding representative of the school and the community.

Eleven year old Elisha, who lives in Pellon, says her parents and younger brother are very proud of her - St Catherine's is very proud of her too.

When she was told she was going to carry the Olympic torch she was excited - she never imagined it would really happen! When she found out she was on the short-list, she thought it would be a miracle if she was chosen and described winning the chance to run with the torch as 'bonkers!'

Her only concern is that she hopes she doesn't fall over when she 's running! Overall she's very pleased about it and she just can't wait till it happens.

Special thanks go to Miss Conroy, who applied for St Catherine's to have one of its students carry the Olympic torch and who organised the nominations of students.
